Introduction from the Webmaster
I have always had an interest in American history, particularly the
Civil War, and after serving in various positions in Federal agencies (including two branches of the military) I retired,
which allowed me the opportunity to devote more time studying and writing about the
conflict that many refer to as the American Civil War. (For usage of the website, please visit Introduction and How to Use this Website.)
My family and I (father
and brothers) have also amassed more than a century of combined military service, covering all five
components of the United States armed forces, including:
Department of Defense, Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard. (This, hopefully, continues to complement my
studies regarding the War Between the States.)
Having resided in more that a dozen states, I couldn't decide in which
state to retire, so I have two stateside homes (one in Texas and the other in the North Carolina mountains), as
well as a home in Brazil (Eu falo e entendo um pouco de Português).
My wonderful and beautiful companion is Ana Paula Mendonça. Ana Paula is a
businesswoman, attorney, and daughter of the late Leoni Mendonça, founder of Hudson Brazilian Oil and an esteemed
Brazilian Senator. During World War II, Leoni Mendonça, as the principal supplier and exporter of various minerals, greatly
aided and assisted the United States.
Ana Paula and I have four children: one adorable son, born June 2010,
and three beautiful daughters (one in high school, and two attending college: one studying law and the other pursuing her
M.D.), and they are the world to us.
